Introduction
Medical Ethics and Humanities Unit
The Medical Ethics and Humanities Unit (MEHU) was formed in 2012 to develop, integrate and coordinate teaching and learning in ethics and humanities for undergraduate medical students. The unit consists of scholars from humanities and clinical backgrounds, offering innovative teaching to enhance students’ competency in narratives, cultural sensitivity, perspective-taking, critical thinking, professionalism and resilience.
Whilst the Medical Ethics & Law (MEL) and Medical Humanities (MH) curricula have distinctive features, they share the common goal of cultivating professional doctors capable of engaging with their patients from a position of awareness of their own humanity.
