Chan Li Chong Memorial Prize in Medical Humanities

This Prize is established to commemorate Ms Cheuk Wan Ping Penny’s late husband, Professor Chan Li Chong (陳立昌), who passed away in November 2015. Professor Chan joined the University in 1989 and was the Chair of Pathology, former Head of the Department of Pathology (2002-2011), MB Lee Professor in Humanities and Medicine and the Director of the Medical Ethics and Humanities Unit.

The Prize shall be awarded annually to a final year MBBS (6-year curriculum) student who has excelled in the Medical Humanities programme throughout the 6 years of medical studies and best embodied the spirit of humanism in medicine as demonstrated through his/her attitude towards academic studies, patient interaction and care. Contribution to medical school life and the community will also be taken into consideration.

The value of the Prize shall be HK$5,000. There shall be no splitting of awards.
