An old man lay beside my grandpa’s geriatric bed
with his amputated right leg — up to mid-calf.
Someday later,
he lost his right knee too.
My sight met his despairing eyes.
He wanted my aid to stand up.
A ward assistant stopped me and said he was ‘naughty’.
He turned his back on me,
never looked back again.
