MEHU and HKUMed Student Affairs welcome all HKUMed UG students to join this one-of-a-kind workshop!
The word “Mandala” originates from Sanskrit and refers to circles, circular patterns, or the concept of a center. In the past, mandalas were symbolic diagrams used in various religious or meditation rituals, such as Hinduism and Buddhism, but they later widely applied in decoration and art form. There are various ways to create mandalas, and the instructor of this course adopts a technique from Japan, that uses black paper as the base, drawing colorful dots and lines to create luminous effects.
By simply drawing dots and lines, participants can clear their minds and heal their souls. Mandala creation does not require a specific theme or any prior drawing experience. The process of creation often becomes a journey of self-exploration, where one’s experiences, emotions, and feelings are projected onto the artwork.
Course content:
- Briefly introduce the definition of mandala
- Methods and techniques of dotting mandala will be taught
- A basic mandala sketch will be provided in advance, and participants can freely draw on it with colour pens
- Can complete 1 piece of 10 x 10 cm work
- No need to bring any tools
- No painting experience required
