MH Conversations and Connections Series – Lunchtime Seminar

Title: “Medical Humanitarianism: The Hong Kong Rescue Team at the Türkiye Earthquake Disaster”

A strong magnitude earthquake occurred in Türkiye in early February 2023. It caused widespread damage to buildings and roads and tens of thousands of lives were taken. Doctors and healthcare workers of the Hong Kong Rescue Team joined with others from across the globe to undertake search and rescue operations. In the midst of aftershocks in the hard-hit district of Hatay, the team acted quickly with assessment, operation planning, search dogs, and life detector and other equipment. In this inspirational event, key members of the Hong Kong Rescue Team will share insights from their powerful humanitarian experiences saving lives in the aftermath of the devastating Türkiye earthquake.
